A PAIR of brothers who launched a violent attack on a man as he slept in his bed have been jailed for a total of six years.

Preston Crown Court heard Christian and Damian Raeburn broke into the rear of a house in Queens Street, Clayton-le-Moors after having a disagreement with an acquaintance a few days before.

Christian, 24, and Damian, 26, both of Trevor Close, Blackburn, then crept into the bedroom of their victim as he slept, prosecutors said.

The victim told police he only woke up when the pair began hitting him around the face and head with a pogo stick and a metal bar.

The court heard the victim, who suffered severe bruising and needed stitches below his left eye in the ‘nasty attack’, recognised his attackers as the Raeburn brothers. The attack took place around noon on March 25, prosecutors said. Both brothers were sentenced to three years behind bars after they were found guilty of aggravated burglary and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Christian was told he would have 70 days removed from his sentence for time he has already spent on remand and on a tag, while Damian was told he will have 90 days removed.

A Lancashire police spokesman said: “This was a really nasty assault on man who was sleeping in his own bed in his own home.

“I am glad the Raeburn brothers have been brought before the courts and punished for committing this crime.”
