It doesn't excuse what happened, but it does happen to be illegal.

It doesn't matter whether he was on the pavement, whether he had lights or whether his bell worked. He was assaulted by a bunch of cowardy thugs who need to be punished.

It sounds like if he got a cut on the head he probably wasn't wearing a safety helmet , that's what they were designed for you know.
If he is looking for criminal comp that will be taken into consideration.

Call me suspicious but I think he fell off his bike made up the story just to get a bit of time off work (if he works), and a bit of good old comp.

bike helmets are a matter of choice , not law.
i know many who ride 10,000+ miles a year without one and without incident.

in most cases helmets are only necessary because so many motorists are aware of what thye're doing.

Nobody deserves a good beating especially for riding a bike on the pavement. Attitudes like that make you as bad as the people you are condemning.

Actually they do.

People who ride on the pavement are dog dirt and cause numerous minor accidents. I was just making a supportive comment and it's not my fault you've got yourself upset

Cyclists do not cycle on the pavement. You might get some kid on a BSO who rides on a pavement but that kid isn't a cyclist and doesn't yet know the agenda.

There has to be some underlying mental health problem with you if you are getting yourself this worked up. Somebody who uses a cycle is a cyclists, regardless of wherever or whatever they are cycling. Actually, they never claimed the victim was on the pavement, they simply asked a question - hence the ? at the end of the sentence.

Its a dodgy area round there, some dodgy characters, saw 2 at half past 8 in the morning drinking Tennants Super Strength. I wouldnt like to be out around there alone at any time of day. Glad the man is ok as the outcome could have been a lot worse.
