A NEW kind of fitness class is due to start at Darwen’s leisure centre this week.

The Wheely Fit sessions, described as a buggy workout, are aimed at new mothers.

The first is scheduled to take place on Thursday, beginning at 10am.

A spokesman for Darwen Leisure Centre said participants should meet at the centre in The Green. All those taking part would then head on foot to Bold Venture Park in the town.

The spokesman added: “Wheely Fit is an outdoor exercise session for new mums.

“The unique one-hour buggy workout is a guided walk with a qualified instructor incorporating a variety of post-natal exercises into a comprehensive workout.

“Mums will need to have had their eight-week check after a normal delivery or 12-week check after a Caesarean section section before attending the session.”

Each session will cost £1 under the re:fresh scheme or £6 for those who do not qualify under the scheme.

Centre bosses have also issued a reminder to users and prospective users that time is beginning to run out for those who are interested in taking advantage of membership offers.

The deals, which expire on August 31, include annual membership for £217 and six weeks’ membership for £40.
