Burnley football fans to ‘kick the habit’ with e-cigs

CLARETS fans who smoke will be targeted in a campaign starting this Saturday to kick the habit.
The club has joined forces with new stand sponsor Totally Wicked in a new incentive that will see fans asked to swap their cigarettes for a claret and blue branded electronic cigarette.
The e-cigs will be handed out at the designated ‘vaping zones’ around Turf Moor during this weekend’s game against Blackpool.
And both parties hope the initiative will be the start of a campaign to help make Turf Moor a smoke-free zone.
Anthony Fairclough, Burnley FC’s director of commercial affairs, said: “We are conscious of the problems within the stands by fans illegally smoking cigarettes and contravening the stadium regulations. In tandem with Totally Wicked we feel we can approach this problem with a viable alternative and we look forward to working together on this and a number of future initiatives.”
Totally Wicked, an electronic cigarette company established in 2008, recently signed a two-year stand sponsorship deal to have their name associated with the Bob Lord Stand. Business director Fraser Cropper said: “To support this initiative Totally Wicked have produced a claret and blue Burnley FC disposable electronic cigarette, which will be made available at the ground this weekend.
“We hope this will be of great interest to supporters as e-cigarettes are a clear and viable way to help people find an alternative to smoking.”
