ONE OF East Lancashire’s biggest engineering firms has expanded after acquiring Burnley-based Stanworth Engineers.
Merc Engineering, of Barrowford, has completed the share purchase of Stanworth, safe guarding the jobs of 30 people employed there in the process.
A spokesman for Merc Engineering said: “Stanworth Engineers has become the third company in the Merc Group and brings with it a team of highly skilled engineers and aerospace customer base.
“The company employs 30 people with a sales turnover of £1.5 million.
“At the heart of the North West’s Aerospace manufacturing hub, Stanworth Engineers has operated from its Burnley premises for over 40 years as a leading manufacturer of high precision components and assemblies for the aerospace industry, including products such as engine components, drain valves, and components for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).”
Bringing Stanworths into the Merc Group will see employee numbers rise to 130 and group turnover increase to nearly £9 million.
The combined resource will allow Merc to service larger packages of work in the aerospace, defence and power generation sectors and continue to offer its existing clients a wider range of machining options.
