Emergency services called after driver is taken ill at the wheel at Haslingden

A MOTORIST has collided with a lamppost after collapsing behind the wheel.

The man, who has not been named, was driving down Blackburn Road in Haslingden shortly after 1.45pm today when the incident took place.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene after the man is believed to have had a seizure.

He is currently being removed from the vehicle.

He is expected to be taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

A second patient not yet known to be a passenger or a pedestrian is also being treated at the scene.
