Man faces charge over explosion in Nelson street
1:37pm Wednesday 17th October 2012 in News
A MAN has been charged in connection with an incident which saw an explosion take place in a Nelson street.
Leon Harker, 26, of Andrew Road, Nelson has been charged with making an explosive substance – contrary to section four of the explosive substance act 1883.
He has been bailed to appear at Burnley Magistrates on October 30.
The charge relates to an incident in March when a small explosive device was found on a street in Nelson.
Officers were called to Pinfold Place at about 8.10pm on Wednesday, March 21, after neighbours reported hearing a loud bang.
On arrival the remnants of what appeared to be a small home-made explosive device were found in the street. No-one was injured in the explosion and no damage was caused.
An inquiry, led by the Force Major Investigation Team, was launched after the incident.
