Have your say on Burnley council tax benefits
2:12pm Tuesday 16th October 2012 in News
PEOPLE in Burnley are being urged to have their say on changes to the council tax benefits system as a public consultation on the issue draws to a close.
The three-month consultation exercise ends on October 28, so there is still chance for all residents to give their views on the proposed changes.
The draft scheme being consulted on would share the burden equally across all working age claimants, meaning they will all have to pay more from April 2013.
Coun Mark Townsend, Burnley Council’s executive member for resources, said: “It’s important that we get as many people’s views as possible to help councillors make the decision about how the new council tax benefits system will work.
“This change is going to affect a lot of local residents, either directly or through people they know. The council will fully analyse all the feedback before we make any final decision.”
