Residents help shape refurbished Burnley play area

LOCAL residents helped shape the design of a refurbished playground in Burnley.

Council staff and ward councillors worked with people living nearby before finalising plans for the refurbishment of the play area, in Owen Street.

The work, which included a new kick-wall, swings, and other play equipment, benches, new surfacing and fencing, was paid for from money set aside by developers of the nearby Sycamore Farm development.

Ward councillors Bea Foster, Marcus Johnstone and Paul Reynolds, also agreed to make a contribution from their ward opportunities fund towards the cost.

Coun Foster said: “We wanted to involve local residents of all ages as much as possible when it came to the refurbishment plans.

“It’s their playground and it was important they took part in the process. The new play area is lovely and very well used, and it’s a great asset for the area.”
