A ‘PERFECT son’ who was told by doctors he had six months to live died just two weeks after receiving the devastating news.

Craig Snape, 37, was suffering from terminal bowel cancer which had spread to the lining of his stomach when he died at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Family and friends have paid tribute to the ‘fun-loving’, ‘out-going’ man, who lived in Orchard Street, Great Harwood.

A technical manager at Wardle Storeys, in Blackburn, Craig enjoyed listening to music, football, and travelling, and had spent 18 months living in Thailand before being diagnosed with cancer.

He was a proud godparent to Tom Kenyon and Seth Ormerod.

He spent his last week at the East Lancashire Hospice before being transferred to hospital. He died last Thursday. His mum Vivian Evans, 61, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, praised staff and said her son would be remembered as a popular man who would be sorely missed.

She said: “This was the second time he had had it.

“He had had scans and some chemotherapy, but they stopped it and they said he was improving a bit but then, all of a sudden, he got worse.

“The staff at the hospital were marvellous. They were wonderful and they made it all a bit easier.

“He really got on famously with his stepdad David. They were very close. His dad Michael died when he was 50.

“He also had an awful lot of brilliant friends. Craig was the best son I could ever wish for.”

Craig’s funeral will be held at St Hubert’s with St Wulstan’s Church, Great Harwood, at 10.30am on Friday, October 19. Donations will be made to East Lancashire Hospice.
