Nelson firm's appeal for youth mentoring

A NELSON company is urging businesses to volunteer their time to help mentor the area’s young people.

Cost-reduction and consultancy firm Businesswise Solutions is to support five high schools in the ultimate enterprise experience, the Young Enterprise Company Programme.

The year-long programme sees pupils set up, and run, their own companies, under the guidance of business mentors, and in competition with other schools within their region, across the UK, and internationally.

Frazer Durris, Businesswise Solutions director, said: “Providing weekly mentoring for all five schools would prove difficult for us, so we are calling on others to offer their own businesses experiences in order to guide pupils on the right path.

“Young Enterprise will find mentors if required, but it would be good to see businesses taking the step to volunteer themselves.”
