Clitheroe primary school pupils use new entry card system

PRIMARY school pupils are among those using a new entry card system as part of heightened security measures at a Ribble Valley school.

More than 60 doors at Moorland Private School, near Clitheroe, have been kitted out with a high-tech control system, which is accessed through a combination of sticky dots, key fobs and ID badges.

The idea was pitched to head teacher Jonathan Harrison by the parent of a pupil at the Ribblesdale Avenue School, who owns Progeny, which specialises in access control.

The technology is designed and manufactured by Great Harwood-based company BSB Electronics Ltd and all children at the day and boarding school, which caters for children aged between two and 16, will be equipped with an entry card.

The system manages and monitors access throughout the whole school, including the nursery, kindergarten, junior school, senior school, sports hall and accommodation areas.

Mr Harrison said children came to the school from all over the world and parent were reassured by the increased level of security.

He said: “Moorland is a leafy suburb school, so it is quite a safe environment, but this provides another level of protection.

“The parent who told me about it thought it would be particularly good, so we trialled it in the nursery and now we run it over the whole site.

“Students and house parents have all commented that they feel safe, and that their belongings and personal space is far more protected than before.

“It is a really nice touch and I feel comfortable in the knowledge that the school’s most valuable assets are protected.”

Why not put a barbed wire fence around it and post guards to finish the job. What are we coming to?

Its all well and good (depending on your point of view)! But just you watch when a child looses said key fob (or whatever) they be paying to change the system due to a 'breech of security' lol.

It's all about conditioning kids to accept the Orwellian state control grid.
