Breakfast praise goes down well with Darwen cafe boss

THE owner of a Darwen cafe was delighted after receiving a letter praising her breakfast that would ‘rival any chef-made meal in a hotel’.

Pamela Hacking, of Pamela’s Cafe and Takeaway in Croft Street, said she got the letter completely out of the blue from an extremely satisfied customer.

She said she had been off for five weeks and left the shop in the hands of her husband and staff.

She said: “I just want to say a huge thank you to my staff and to this man.

“I had been worried we would have to close down and this has made me feel six feet tall.

“I have been here for five years but there have been a lot of places closing and the town centre has become a bit of a ghost town.

“But it was great to get positive feedback and this man has said he will definitely come back to the town.”

The letter was sent by a Mr George Whalley, of Bolton, who wrote: “It must be said that the meal surpassed all of my expectations.

“The breakfast would have rivalled any chef-made meal in a hotel.

“You should be proud that your staff did so well in your absence.”

That's a advertising ploy , I bet no body wrote the letter it has just been used as a publicity stunt that has worked for her.
well to teach them a lesson I won't ever be going again it was average at best.
I'll write them a,letter telling them I wonder if they run to the LET with that.

Gosh, there are some miserable so and so's in this world. Why are some people so malicious? Even if they don't agree with the article there is no need to "put the knife in" like these selfish folk. I have not been in the cafe as we do not need to eat in Darwen but if this lady and staff are trying to earn a living why doubt what has been said? Maybe it is true that it is not newsworthy as such but sometimes papers are short of copy and need a bit of padding - it also gives the Darwen reporter something to write about. Lay off and try the breakfast there yourself before making your uncalled for comments.

It makes feel hungry, i'm gonna get a butty from there. I once wrote a christmas card to the co-op and praised the staff who work in my local store, because they are genuinely nice people... as a a reward they all got a bottle of wine and a small bonus from the co-op for their efforts. Being nice costs nothing but a few words.. being a d i c k requires the same (see some of the above words) but is usually just a waste of time for all concerned.
