Deadline nears for Nelson artists’ huge showcase

ENTRIES for this year’s Pendle Open Art Exhibition need to be taken to the ACE Centre, Nelson, tomorrow or Saturday.

The exhibition, which is 29 years old this year, is one of the biggest art events held locally, regularly attracting more than 600 visitors over the three days.

The display will be held between Friday, October 19 and Sunday, October 21, from 10am until 4pm, with free admission.

This year’s event will also include an arts and craft fair, an artists’ swap show and an art and vintage market in Nelson town centre.

Kirsty Rose, Pendle Leisure Trust’s arts development manager, said: “I’m really looking forward to collecting artwork this weekend.

“It’s like my birthday, getting to unwrap all the amazing artwork the people of Pendle create.

“I also get chance to take some photos and interview some of the people exhibiting, so if you just can’t wait till next week, you can have a sneak peak at www.pendle gallery.blogspot.com.”

Anyone is welcome to exhibit their artwork, which can be taken this Friday or Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
