Bacup man to stand trial on violence and arson charges

A BACUP man has been committed for crown court trial, by Burnley magistrates, on violence and arson charges.

Nicholas Alan John Butler, 23, of Russell Street, is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Alan Royle, on September 29.

He is also charged with arson, being reckless as to whether life was endangered, by damaging a door by fire, and a similar charge in relation to wooden boarding, at property belonging to Mr Royle.

Butler was remanded in custody and will appear before Burnley Crown Court onOctober 22 for a plea hearing.
