Rawtenstall busker heads to contest in London

A BUDDING Rawtenstall musician has his eyes set on stardom after making it to the semi-finals of London’s biggest ever busking competition.

Aidan Fortune, a student at Alder Grange Community and Technology School Sixth Form, beat off 150 acts to make it to the final stages of the The Gigs 2012.

The event is organised by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, to showcase the finest amateur talent in Britain.

Despite bowing out at the semi-final stage, 17-year-old Aidan, from Waterfoot, still has high hopes of making a career out of his musical talent.

He said: “Getting to the semi-finals was such a great achievement. I was really proud of myself.

“I’ve always loved music, I play the drums, guitar and a bit of piano and bass, so it seemed an obvious career route for me.

Aidan is currently studying for a BTEC in music technology and creative media production at the sixth form.
