New chief for East Lancashire children's charity

AN East Lancashire charity has appointed a new chief executive.

Sue Cotton has taken over at Child Action Northwest’s headquarters in Wilpshire, from which it works with 6,000 children and young people across the region.

Sue former Action for Children head of children’s programmes takes over from John Tempest, who led the organisation for 12 years and was responsible for taking the organisation forward from the last days of residential care as Blackburn Orphanage.

Sue said: “I liked the regional feel of the organisation and the fact it really understands the needs of the neighbourhoods we are working in. “It’s a great privilege to be responsible for the continuation of a journey started over 100 years ago to be able to be part of something that inspires and changes children, families and communities providing help, support and bringing about changing to see the difference to lives that our intervention can make.”
