Reading sessions launched in mental health campaign
9:58am Tuesday 9th October 2012 in News
LANCASHIRE County Council libraries are hosting a number of sessions to encourage people to take up reading.
Wednesday is World Mental Health day and these events are designed to encourage people to find out how reading can improve their wellbeing.
The free sessions are part of the county council’s Get Into Reading Project – aimed at people experiencing the stress of modern life, or those who would like encouragement with reading.
Sessions are run at libraries across the county.
County Councillor David Smith said: “Modern life is very stressful and it can be difficult to find the time and space to relax. Reading is a great way to escape and with Get into Reading, people can pop down to their local library and read, or listen to someone reading aloud.
“This is a great way to refocus and people find the sessions a very calming experience.”
