Newsagent robber hunted after Burnley raid

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man robbed a paper shop in Burnley.

The incident happened at the B and P Newsagents in Tunnel Street yesterday at around 10.15am.

A man dressed in dark clothing has entered the shop and started a conversation with a member of staff before demanding the contents of the till.

The shop assistant then opened the till and handed the contents over before he reached over and grabbed money bags containing loose change.

The man left the shop with a quantity of cash and a number of cans of Fosters.

The robber is described as white, six foot tall with a medium build. He had a local accent.

Detective Constable Harvinder Uppal from Pennine CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward and contact the police.

“Fortunately nobody was hurt but we do need to find the person responsible.”
