A DRUG dealer who peddled crack cocaine throughout Blackburn has been sentenced to four years in jail.

Sher Khan Sajawal, 37, of Kempton Rise, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply class A drugs on Monday.

It was the sixth day of a trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

Sajawal was finally arrested in October last year after a lengthy investigation by Lancashire Police’s eastern division’s targeted crime team during which a team of officers gathered evidence of Sajawal’s involvement in the supply of class A drugs.

Detective Inspector Mark Winstanley said: “Sajawal is a prolific drug dealer who brought Class A drugs onto the streets of Blackburn.

“It was an operation we ran within the division, acting on intelligence we gained from our enquiries.

“I hope residents are reassured by the action taken. Drug dealing blights people’s lives and we will continue to do everything within our power to target those involved and bring them to justice.”

He said Sajawal was convicted in January 2003 for supplying class A drugs to undercover police officers. At that time he received three and a half years imprisonment.

DI Winstanley said: “As a result of our investigations in 2011, the initial arrest came on the back of a drug deal he was observed making on October 26 in the Audley Range area of Blackburn.”

A quantity of drugs and cash was seized from his possession at the time.
