Pendle council calls for money-saving tips
12:49pm Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in News
PENDLE council is asking residents to come up with ideas to manage a shortfall in funding.
The council has launched The Savings Challenge, to identify ways to overcome a funding shortfall while maintaining vital services for residents.
Dean Langton, the Council’s Head of Finance said: “We need to save at least £1.5million in the financial year 2013/14 because we’re expected to get around twenty per cent less funding from the Government.
“The scale of change in government grant funding will have a big impact on the affordability of the services we currently provide.
“We face a significant challenge and difficult decisions have to be made.
“That’s why we want people to have their say so that we can continue to work together and make savings in the best way possible – balancing our books while protecting key services for our residents.”
The Savings Challenge is running from Monday, October 8, until Monday November 12.
To submit an idea for a way to save money or raise extra funds go to www.feedbackonline.org.uk/consultations and click on Pendle Savings Challenge.

Anyway, all those mentioned in the previuos post...plus
Do away with Town and Parish councils.
Stop wasting money on things like Five a Day.Change 4 Life. Walk4 Life, Healthy Eating. The results of the expenditure can never be quantified.
Cut back on paying advisors to organisations like the Peoples Enterprise and Empowerment Forum. (Formerly The Pendle Pakistan Welfare Association)Bridges .
Review funding for organisations like Building Bridges.
Close down Discover Pendle and cut back the number of staff engaged in tourism.
Tighten up the money collection system. Every year the council writes off far too much.
Cut down the number of meetings by council staff and let them get on with their work.

Sell off the leisure centre to a private company and not just part of it either... the whole lot.
Start more shared services with other councils.
Reduce the number of Councillors.
Introduce a fee for collecting green waste. (I don't have a garden - so why should I pay for everyone else who does through my council tax).
Introduce a fee for replacement bins... Maybe people would take better care of them then.
Pull out of as many associated (and pointless) bodies as possible like GLA.
Slash the Council's policy unit.
Stop any taxpayer money going to any Unions.
Stop holding Council funded FUN DAYS... it's not the Council's job!
