Ramblers invited to take part in Rossendale's foodie walking festival

RAMBLERS in Rossendale can get a taste of Valley businesses with a unique walking experience this weekend.
The fifth Rural Rossendale Foodie Walking Festival takes place this weekend, with each route taking in a different food, or drink, company based in the borough.
Founder member and walk leader Wendy Davison said it was a great opportunity for tourists to discover Rossendale’s hidden gems.
She is one of eight volunteers organising this year’s events.
Wendy said: “Hopefully we will entice people to go to areas that maybe they haven’t heard of previously.
“We have more miles of public footpath in Rossendale than almost anywhere else in the country, yet we haven’t really established ourselves as a walking destination.
“To do this, we’ve tied in the walks with the best local producers.”
The walks, which take place between October 5 and October 8, will take in Rawtenstall, Whitworth, Bacup, Haslingden and Helmshore.
