Floodlights for Earby bowling green move a step closer

A SCHEME to install floodlights at the bowling green in Sough Park, Earby, has moved a step closer.

The Earby Memorial Bowling Club is taking over the lease of the land and it will now try to secure match funding of around £3,000 to enable the floodlighting to be installed.

A council spokesman said: “Discussions have taken place with Earby Memorial Bowling Club over the last four months regarding the possibility of them taking on a lease/licence for the bowls pavilion and green at Sough Park in Earby.

“The delay has been down to some negotiation over certain terms and conditions and the annual fee that they would have to pay.

“This has now been resolved and both parties are now satisfied with the terms and conditions laid out.

“The bowling club will have a six-year lease for the use of the bowls pavilion and a licence forthe bowling green.

“Hopefully, the lease should be in operation from the start of November 2012.”
