Life-saving lessons for Burnley MP

BURNLEY MP Gordon Birtwistle learnt life-saving hands-only CPR at the Lib Dem party conference last week.
Mr Birtwistle joined other Lib Dem MPs at a British Heart Foundation conference exhibition in Brighton.
He said: “I’ve learnt a really important lesson today — after watching Vinnie Jones’ training film I feel in no doubt that I now have the basic skills to step in and be able to help save a life.
“When someone suffers a heart attack, every second counts – bystander action really can mean the difference between life and death. At the moment not enough bystanders have the confidence to know what to do when someone has collapsed.”
“We need more have-a-go heroes on our streets and in our homes and hands-only CPR should give everyone that confidence to step in and help.”
