Lancashire Council of Mosques calls for condemnation of anti-Islam film
1:00pm Tuesday 2nd October 2012 in News

Monir Ashraf, Salim Mulla, Mohammed Kathrada and Javed Iqba from the Lancashire Council of Mosques
LANCASHIRE Council of Mosques has written to David Cameron asking the UK Government to condemn the film ‘The Innocence of Muslims’ which has caused the deaths of dozens of people in violent protests.
The council held a press conference at the Bangor Street Community Centre in Blackburn to announce their actions in the wake of the uproar across the Islamic world about the film which it deemed to ‘ridicule, mock and promote half truths regarding the Prophet Muhammad’.
Coun Salim Mulla, deputy mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, said the council condemned the violence that has marked protests about the film and led to more than 28 deaths including those of four US officials who died when the consulate building in Benghazi was attacked and set on fire. He said: “I am disappointed that our Foreign Secretary William Hague has condemned the violence but not the film itself as the US Secretary of State has done.
“We have written to the Prime Minister asking him to do this and to Mr Hague and Home Secretary Theresa May as well. We have spoken to our MP Jack Straw asking him to urge the Government on this.”
In the letter to Mr Cameron, Mr Mulla said: “This film has been made and circulated to infuriate and enrage billions of Muslims worldwide.
“Having seen excerpts of it, I can only say that it has been put together by bigots with the sole aim of offending Muslims. Films such as this are merely designed to play with their emotions.
“As an umbrella organisation representing over a hundred mosques in Lancashire and thousands of Muslims from this part of the United Kingdom, I ask you and your Government to condemn this movie.”
Asked about suggestions that some activists want to hold a protest march against the film in Blackburn, Coun Mulla said: “We thought about a march in Blackburn and spoke to the police but decided that it would be an open invitation to the EDL, BNP and other right-wing groups to cause trouble.”

We have a saying in this country about sticks and stones etc...Perhaps now is a good time to reflect on that saying. Just as many people if not more are not offended by this film. Most probably don't have an opinion on it. Those that do have a right to express their opinion. What they don't have is a right to kill, torture or terrorist others to make them agree with their opinion. The free world is free to do almost as it pleases. If you do not agree with this right then I suggest you leave the free world and live as you like in a world of your choice.

If anything happens due to your right to wield the flag of freedom of speech, then you should also be held actionable for any consequences of your exertion.
People, who demand freedom of speech, are compensating for the freedom of thought, which they seldom use.

The last thing most terrorists these days shout, as they blow themselves and innocent civilians up is "Allah Akbar".
Please don't tell us about not offending your sensibilities.

Like another poster has said, why hasn't the Lancashire Council of Mosques condemned those in their culture who groom and sexually assault white girls. Not one word was said about it.

If someone made a film like this but aimed it at Christians for example we wouldn't really care as its just a cheap film.
It's about time you Muslims stopped living 500 years in the past.
Ever likely countries like Pakistan are in ruins with Muslims believing on such rubbish.

However!!!! the reaction from SOME of the muslim world backs up some of the claims in the movie and does the muslim world no good what so ever, no matter how hard it may be, they should have smiled and said "oh silly western world" and laughed it off, but no they react with violance, murder and riots....

If some people find the film offensive, it is no breach of freedom of speech for them to say so. If people express their view peacefully that is simply them exercising their freedom of speech.
It is up to you whether or not you are persuaded by their arguments.

I have heard of but not seen this film which was obviously produced to offend, but these people shouldn't watch it then they wouldn't be offended.
Why are they requesting members of our Parliament to act ? it wasn't made by a Brit or produced in the UK.
Everytime Mulla opens his mouth its to denounce the actions of non Muslims, why does he do this ?
Mr Mulla, please write to the British Government and thank them for a change. Yes thank them, for the help we gave Muslims in the former Yugoslavia. Thank them for the help in Iraq,Afgahnistan and Libya.
These were not Christian conflicts but Muslim v Muslim, but it didn't matter we are there to help the underdog.
Whilst you at it write and thank the families of those who have given up their lives in that cause. Write also to those who have been injured in that cause.
That should keeep you busy for the next ten years or so,and keep you out of the local news and prevent you fanning the flames of hatred.

I didn't like the film, I thought it was crass, insensitive and possibly created and released to initiate the inevitable orgy of violence that occurs whenever the Muslim imaginary friend is in the least slighted.
And watch it with the sound off, Jesus and Mat Magdalene spring to mind, when that dawns on Christians across the world will there be frenzied riots?
.
The really sad thing is the majority of people killed in all these occurrences were Muslims. YCMIU.
I would suggest that once the LCM and the general Muslim community get up on their hind legs and publicly denounce Islamic terrorism, including 9-11 etc, using real words of sorrow and regret not politically correct platitudes then Mr Cameron may be right to do as they request.
Until then the phrase "Hell freezes over" should hold sway.

I don't know whether to feel sorry for him and his Muslim friends for living in the past as they are obviously brainwashed and cant think for themselves.
It is this type of attitude that promoted Hitler and all of the nazi atrocities when freedom of speech, print and actions was condemned.
Grow up Mulla and all your Muslim mates and if you don't like something just leave it alone, promotion of something not worth watching just encourages more interest in the subject.
And yes, I have seen the film.
