BOSSES at Crown Paints have submitted a retrospective planning application for the huge mural on the side of a house in Blackburn Road, Darwen.
The Union flag, painted on the side of the property facing Hollins Road near the entrance to the Crown Paints site, was unveiled in May as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The application, submitted to Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council by Crown’s support manager Vernon Kinrade, states that ‘although opinion was not originally sought, feedback from the local community has been very positive’.
At the time of unveiling Mr Kinrade said: “We are very proud about being a royally-appointed company.
“The mural is our way of saying happy Jubilee.”
The flag was painted with the company’s most popular coloured paints.
