Rossendale MP backs school milk campaign
10:10am Friday 28th September 2012 in News
ROSSENDALE’S MP will hand out milk to nursery children next week as part of World School Milk Day celebrations.
Jake Berry will visit Maden Early Years Nursery in Rochdale Road, Bacup, on Friday, October 5.
World Milk Day, which took place on Wednesday, encourages children to drink milk and aims to educate them about the benefits of milk.
School milk is free for children in day care or primary education under the age of five, and subsidised for school students aged five to 11.
John Sedgwick, managing director for Cool Milk, said: “Milk in schools continues to be incredibly popular and hugely successful in contributing to the healthy development of all children, but especially where children are struggling to get their daily nutrients.”
