12:41pm Wednesday 26th September 2012 in News
RAIL passengers in East Lancashire are being advised to check before they travel after a number of flood-related cancellations today.
Several early morning services from Colne through Burnley, Accrington and Blackburn have been affected after a landslide was reported in Poulton-le-Fylde.
Rail carriages garaged overnight at Blackpool were trapped by the incident, causing problems with the availability of trains to East Lancs.
And passengers through Darwen and Blackburn to Clitheroe are being urged to take extra precautions following intermittent problems yesterday.
Rising water levels on the line around Whalley caused disruptions to the Ribble Valley service throughout the day, with either speed restrictions or cancellations being enforced.
A Northern Rail spokesman said that the landslip and flooding had caused knock-on problems regarding the availability of trains across the network.
Travellers are being advised to check the operator’s website - www.northernrail.org - before they set out.
