Blackburn's £60m shopping centren The Mall wins green

BLACKBURN’S £60m shopping centre is leading the way when it comes to being green.
Management at The Mall will be presented with the Green Apple environment award at a ceremony at the House of Commons, following work to reduce its carbon footprint.
It fought off stiff competition from more than 500 entries from shopping centres around the country.
It will receive the award on Monday, November 12.
The work done by The Mall work will be used as a best practice case study in ‘The Green Book’, which is distributed to businesses, governments, ministers, universities and local authorities.
The Mall has introduced green practices into every area of the business including business travel plans, energy management, pollution and emission reduction, waste management and recycling.
David Williams, deputy operations manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be receiving this award as it cements our dedication to the environment and allows us to pass on our knowledge and experience to companies around the world.”

These silly never ending headline copy reading mistakes really do portray what Blackburn has become. Very well paid people responsible for overseeing the content within the Evening Telegraph as well as those responsible for what Blackburn with Darwen Council has become. Those who get paid the most don’t appear to care!

If you didn't read the article and just glanced at the headline, it wold sound like, the mall was the best place for getting green (i.e.w**d).
