A CAR overturned in Darwen this morning.
It happened during the morning rush-hour, in Roman Road, Eccleshill, causing tailbacks up towards the Pothouse area.
The male driver, who was the only person in the car, was helped out by passers-by.
His black Vauxhall Corsa was on its roof when police were called just after 8.30am.
An ambulance was called but he was only thought to be suffering from minor injuries and shock.
Police were still investigating the cause of the incident.

No effort was made to keep the road open and let cars pass on one side.
Do the police not understand that if you divert cars onto a road, then you need to either open that road as quickly as possible or redirect traffic?

If a driver looses control of a vehicle on a worn out road surface then overturns, they have an investigation to make sure that the driver is at fault and not the local authority.

Using the Goosehouse Road was the obvious choice to relieve traffic on the A666 until some bright spark decided to do the repairs by the motorway link road at the same time!! You suggest Watery Lane/Roman Road as a bypass. I made this suggestion some years ago and the residents didn't half come down on me!! Not on my patch in other words. It is a difficult situation at the best of times but to do repairs on two vital roads at the same time is madness....

The recent roadworks at every main site going into Darwen have proved that all roads are well used and car users who pay their road tax deserve well maintaned roads.
Guide is now akin to the m25 at peak times and takes me 20 mins-half an hour to get a mile to work! I have to have my car to use at work or would walk or cycle (I sometimes do when I come home and leave my car at work to collect later) Cheers developers and Council for approving! Cant wait for he next estate and hotel to be built....icing on the cake,,,,,,and of course more money in the Council coffers.
