Detective to run two marathons in aid of children

A DETECTIVE who heads up Lancashire’s public protection team is to run two marathons to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation.

Det Supt Ian Critchley will represent Lancashire police and the Children’s Society at the Preston Guild marathon on October 28 and the London marathon in April next year.

Det Supt Critchley is the force’s lead for public protection, which includes working towards preventing young people from becoming victims of child sexual exploitation.

He said: “I’m running both marathons for the Children's Society, who I have now worked with in partnership with Lancashire police for a number of years – they do some fantastic work with children who go missing or are sexually exploited.”
