Son of Blackburn MP Jack Straw 'will face struggle to make his mark'
9:11am Monday 24th September 2012 in News
WILL Straw has been warned that he will struggle to make his mark as an MP if he follows his father Jack into Parliament.
Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle said the 32-year-old will be compared to his famous parent and will have to make his own mark – just as Lindsay did when he followed his dad Doug into politics.
And Blackburn MP Jack said: “You cannot choose your parents. I think Will is great but I am his dad.”
Will is seeking nomination for Labour as candidate for the winnable seat of Rossendale and Darwen currently held by Tory Jake Berry.
Mr Hoyle, now senior deputy speaker of the House of Commons, entered Westminster at the election his father Doug, now Lord Hoyle, left as MP for Warrington North having previously represented Nelson and Colne.
He said: “The danger is he will at first be compared to his father. When I started I was always referred to as Doug’s son. I had to say ‘Hang on, I’m Lindsay’.
“It was difficult. My father had been chairman of the Labour Party but luckily we were never in Parliament together.”

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse.
Some faceless gimp has a spastic, nepotistic aspiration to greatness.
What on earth has he got to offer of any worth whatsoever?

Or am I thinking about another MP?
Now if you have a record of drug offences, this will make him an ideal MP.
With the way the country is being run, you need to be on drugs to mess things up.

Has his son every been involved with drugs?

Darwen and Rossendale CLP will decide who is chosen to represent our towns based on merit, as I am sure Msrs Straw and Hoyle are aware.
Selection criteria does NOT include who your dad happens to be !
