Haslingden knife thug’s sentence cut bid fails

A VICIOUS thug with a dark ‘fascination for knives’ has failed in a bid to cut his jail sentence.

Shaun Stellenboom, 24, of Bedford Terrace, Haslingden, was jailed indefinitely for public protection at Preston Crown Court in April after he admitted wounding with intent.

He lashed out at his brother, John Stellenboom, after a drink-fuelled row on bonfire night last year.

Mr Justice Underhill, sitting with Lord Justice Pitchford and Mr Justice Bean at the Court of Appeal, said Stellenboom already had a dire criminal record before the attack, including an incident in which he held a pregnant woman captive and “threatened to cut her baby out”.

The open-ended sentence was imposed because of his “fascination with knives”.
