A MUM-of-two has set up the UK’s first frozen range of dairy free baby foods inspired by her daughter’s allergy to milk.

Former Clitheroe Royal Grammar School pupil Sarah Walker, 29, launched Molly Moo Dairy Free last week.

The Great-Harwood mum has now had interest from supermarket chain Booth’s which has invited Sarah to a buyer day to showcase her products.

Sarah’s daughter, Molly, who was born in June, 2011, was found to have a milk allergy after she developed colic and eczema that covered her face.

After visiting the doctor, Sarah cut dairy from Molly’s diet completely.

Sarah said: “After I cut out out the dairy produce I noticed that she was much more content and settled.

“I didn’t really think about what would happen once we started to wean Molly onto solids.

“It was only when she began to show an interest in food other than fruit and vegetable purees that I became stuck on what to make that didn’t contain dairy. This made creating home cooked meals that little bit harder.

“When I started looking for products for babies following a dairy free diet I realised that they are practically non-existent on the UK market.

“Most parents would prefer to prepare their own meals for their children, but sometimes parents just need something to hand that they can grab when there isn’t the time or inclination to be in the kitchen. This is where I hope the Molly Moo range will help.”

The first three products are now available in the Molly Moo range — Thick and Creamy Carrot, Swede and Baby Spinach Soup; Sweet Potato and Broccoli Bake; and Chocolate Figgy Diggy Pudding. All are suitable for babies from seven months plus.

Sarah wants to expand the range after Christmas and is hoping that more shops and local deli’s will stock the range.

She added: “It is only very early days yet but i’m quite excited by the interest that the products are receiving. A number of local farmshops and deli’s have expressed an interest in stocking them as well as Booth’s.”
