Pendle MP's top praise for Jane Clough’s parents

LOSS Penny and John LOSS Penny and John

PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has praised the bravery of murder victim Jane Clough ’s parents.

In a Commons debate on domestic violence and the barriers faced by victims, the MP said: “The courage shown by John and Penny in the face of such a terrible loss has been incredible.”

The Justice for Jane campaign saw Mr Stephenson force a new law through Parliament, which allows the prosecution to appeal against a decision to grant bail to an offender.

Jane’s killer, Jonathan Vass, had been released on bail while facing domestic violence charges against her.

Speaking about the introduction of the new bill, Mr Stephenson said: “That was a huge achievement for Jane’s parents and all those involved in the Justice for Jane campaign.”
