Two rescued after attempting to cross swollen Ribble Valley river

TWO walkers were swept away by trying to cross a river in the Forest of Bowland last night.
Twenty members of the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue team were called by Lancashire police at 7.30pm on Sunday to Langden Valley, after six well-equipped adult walkers had attempted to cross a swollen river.
Two out of the group had been swept away, but managed to get themselves to safety after being carried downstream. They then made it to the nearest house about an hour's walk away.
The mountain rescue team helped the remaining four walkers to cross the river safely using specialist rope techniques and swiftwater rescue equipment.
All of the walkers were checked over, treated for hypothermia, and walked to the nearest track where two team Land Rovers were waiting to collect them.

It shouldn't be a donation. Any person causing these heroes to be called out should be automatically charged £1000.

In that case, why do they accept donations?
I seriously think your and your equally dim ilk writing above you want to see fun and enjoyment taxed so people have to pay for it. I get the impression this tends to come from people who either can't or won't go out into the countryside themselves so it comes principally from envy.
