Call for discounted internet tariff for East Lancashire social housing residents
11:00pm Thursday 13th September 2012 in News
ROSSENDALE and Darwen MP Jake Berry has called on the Government to look into a discounted internet tariff for people living in social housing.
He was speaking during a House of Commons debate on universal credit and welfare reform on Tuesday.
In a question directed at minister for work and pensions Iain Duncan Smith he said: “Although figures vary, you will be aware that the vast majority of people living in social housing have no access to the internet.
“Will he explore the possibility of a social housing broadband tariff to enable those who want to claim their benefits online to do so?”
In response, Mr Duncan Smith said: “Absolutely right. That is exactly what we are trying to do.”

This man must be some form of a Human "Cabbage", why would anybody want to go to work if the government gave discounts for people living in social housing & at present getting very good handouts for free. your suggestion is simply pathetic: Jake you need to get a real Job mate.

Surely the idea is to get these people up and out of bed in a morning, 'actively seeking work' and not laying in bed, ordering free delivery of beer, fags and food online?

The pawnbrokers tell me that they get hundreds - I never pay more than £200 so they must sell/pawn them for £100 - £150.
