Application website now open for Lancashire schools

PARENTS whose children start school next September are being reminded the county’s online admissions system is now live for applications.

Last year nearly 17,200 Lancashire parents, approximately 60 per cent, applied online.

The council claim feedback from the process said that most of them had completed their application within 10 minutes and that they would recommend the system to others.

The online system also incorporates links to Ofsted, school websites and other information.

Paper application forms are also still available, and can be obtained from and returned to area education offices.

However, applicants who apply online need not also complete a paper application form.

All applicants will receive offer letters which will be issued during early March 2013 for secondary and April 2013 for primary.

Offer letters will be issued by second-class post and their date of arrival will vary depending on the postal service in each area.

Online applicants will however be able to access their school offer slightly earlier, after 8pm on the day the offer letters are issued.

Parents must apply for secondary school places commencing in September 2013 by October 31 and primary school places by January 15, 2013.
