Blackburn girls ‘doing well’ after car mounts pavement

TWO teenage girls hit by a car in Blackburn are said to be ‘doing well’.

The 17-year-old friends suffered severe cuts and bruises after being struck by a car in East Park Road, Blackburn, next to Corporation Park.

Police investigating the crash said the friends were injured when a Vauxhall Astra mounted the kerb and struck them just before 5pm on Monday.

The driver is said to have lost control of his vehicle in the wet weather, and police are investigating.

PC John Birch said: “Two girls were walking down East Park Road when the driver lost control, mounted the pavement and hit them.

“The girls has some serious cuts and brusies but their families say they are doing well. One of girls has now been released from hospital while the other is still in hospital waiting for an opeation on a damaged muscle in her leg.

“Officers are still investigating the reasons why the driver lost control. At this stage no-one has been arrested.”

Police said there were two men in the car. One, thought to be the driver, was taken to hospital with leg pains.

Whilst I a passenger driving past, I did not witness the accident and did see the car on the footpath.
I'm confident the weather conditions weren't wet as reported by the LT!

Hey I've seen this car booting up and down Audley. They have no care for the speed I think the police should charge the driver.

Wet conditions or not...on a road like this one...you don't lose control unless you're speeding & driving like an idiot. In certain parts of it, even 30 feels too fast!
