Burnley lead thief must pay compensation

A MAN who flung slates off a neighbouring house roof had thought he would “have a bit of lead,” while he was there, as well, a court heard.
Jamie Shackleton, 23, entered a house by a hole he had made in the roof and was arrested in the attic.
Police had been called when the defendant had been spotted on the roof, but he claimed, he had not been directing the slates at officers.
The defendant was said to have caused damage to the tune of £2,000 during the incident, on August 19, Burnley magistrates were told.
Shackleton, of Piccadilly Road, Burnley, admitted damage to the roof of a house on the same road and theft of lead.
The bench told the defendant they were giving him a chance. He received a six-month community order, with supervision. He must pay £250 compensation.
