Great Harwood swimming club's boost to pool resources

A GREAT Harwood swimming club has received a cash boost to help them cover the cost of hiring the pool.
The Great Harwood Otters Swimming Club has received a £1,750 cash boost from The Co-operative’s Community Fund.
The Community Fund is created by members of The Co-operative Group who elect to donate all, or part of their twice-yearly dividend payments, directly to the scheme. The funds are then shared with local community projects and groups, such as the Great Harwood Otters Swimming Club, across the country.
Nigel O’Rourke from the club said: “Our training sessions have introduced many young people to a healthy and positive hobby that keeps them occupied and engaged in local community sport.
“The skills they learn, such as self-discipline, team work and tenacity, will be useful for them throughout their lives, not just in the swimming pool.
“Thanks to this most generous grant from The Co-operative we have been able to secure use of the pool and ensure as many youngsters as possible get to join in.” Tony Leo from The Co-operative Group, said: “Because our members own the business, they get a share in any of the profits we make.
“It’s a scheme we’re very proud of, not only because it gives us the chance to thank members for shopping with us, but because so many people choose to give something back to local communities.”
