Canvassers out in Pendle to complete electoral register
11:50am Wednesday 5th September 2012 in News
CANVASSERS are visiting Pendle households who haven’t yet returned their electoral registration forms.
They will be knocking on the doors of homes for which the council have still to receive forms.
Gillian Turpin, Pendle Council elections and registration manager, said: “The electoral canvass is part of the annual voter registration process.
“We delivered forms to Pendle homes in June, followed by reminders in July.
“The majority of residents have already returned their forms by post or registered by telephone, internet or text message.
“But there are still around 12,000 households we still haven’t heard from.
“It’s these homes that our canvassers will be visiting.”
The canvasser will go through the details on the form and make any required changes.
By law, households have to provide this information to their local council every year. Failure to provide the information could lead to a fine of up to £1,000.
