Visitors take part in annual Barnoldswick boundary walk
11:49am Wednesday 5th September 2012 in News
VISITORS from as far afield as Cornwall took part in Barnoldswick’s annual Beating the Bounds walk on Sunday.
The walk, which follows Barnoldswick’s ancient boundaries, was led by Keith Pickles with support from Elaine Eccles and Val Webster.
Walkers took part in traditional activities as they followed the route, beating boundary stones with willow wands and singing the Beating the Bounds song.
Participants enjoyed a Yorkshire- themed perambulation dinner, with Barnoldswick baked bread, Yorkshire ham and Yorkshire Tea prepared by town councillors Marjorie Adams and David Whipp.
The traditional walk is organised by Barnoldswick Town Council and is part of the Pendle Walking Festival.
