I agree with Sajdin. Alcohol misuse is the cause of so many problems in our society today, and it's no use telling irresponsible people to drink responsibly.

watching a film the other week on c4 about children getting beat in a mosque in keighley by a so called teacher.i wonder what his excuse was if he was in full control,ie no alcohol.please tell me the positives about that.

I can not tell you one beneficial thing about drinking alcohol. However, I do know it benefits the purveyors of the product. In Darwen I am aware that quite a large percentage of off licences are Muslim owned and yet they persist in selling alcohol, **** and also pork products. It seems to me that some people are only prepared to accept their religious teachings as long as it does not hit them in the pocket.

Selling it is a sin, even bigger than drinking it. But as I'm sure you'll agree there are black sheep in all sectors of the community. I for one do not regard Asian off licence owners as Muslim as they are going against Islam.

An "Muslim" who sells Alcohol and pork, is not a "Muslim" simples, no matter how much they convince themselves, so next time you in a shop you suspect is owned by a "Muslim" just ask why are you selling it?. Just because I am a Muslim who hasn't touched alcohol in my life (so far!) is not the reason why I want it seen banned. Its causes so much trouble, and waste millions if not billions of pounds per year of our tax money, I work in a hospital and I see it !

Its not needed in today's society and our society would be much better without it.

Also in regards to the "teacher" who was beating children, yes he was in full control and he has been punished by UK Law. But you dont see this happening everyday of night (use to be just fridays people got ******, but seems like anyday is ok!)

It's not alcohol that should be banned,no one made her drink too much so she would assault her 10 yr old child,it's disgusting she got off so lightly I hope the child's been put in safe hands,she and many others that blame drink and drugs etc on there behaviour need punishing proper instead of **** footing around by stupid judges letting them off with the crimes.

Yes you are right, Alcohol is not to blame but she is, however if there was no alcohol, I have no doubt this will never had happened, god knows how much this whole incident has cost us. It was reported that alcohol related crime cost every household £600 per year ! Around 23,000 related incidents take place every week ! and its been proven that majority of these 23,000 incidents directly occurred solely due to alcohol being consumed. The UK has banned knives and guns to prevent crimes from happening why not ban alcohol to do the same?

The government might have banned hand guns and some knives but they are still being used by criminals.

It's the same with alcohol, if it was banned people would still find a source. Look at prohibition in America, that didn't work, all it did was to drive it underground.

I would prefer it be underground then available at every corner street. End of day it wrecks peoples lives, people end up getting criminal records if it wasn't for it. Its not needed in todays society, and once this country realizes that, the better this country will become.

I do agree though that it can ruin lives, but why do some people drink so heavily? Is it to escape from reality or because of a lack of hope?

What is really needed is a serious examination of why people drink heavily, and what can be done. All that we get are adverts telling us to drink less which have about as much effect on the problem as a teaspoonful of water on a forest fire.

Successive governments have been afraid to tackle the root causes of the problems. They are out of touch with ordinary people and don't really care about the proletariat.
