Wildlife Trust in Lancashire cash call

LANCASHIRE’S biggest nature conservation charity has launched an urgent appeal after being hit by government cuts, VAT increases and corporate funding losses.

The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year but is having to ask its members, businesses and anyone else keen to support the region’s wildlife to keep donating to make it can continue its vital work.

Chief executive Anne Selby said: “The Wildlife Trust has been dealt a series of blows over the past 12 months but we are determined to continue our work in protecting our region’s vital habitats and the wildlife within.

“Now is the time to stand up and fight back and we are asking for a helping hand to do this.

“We hope that people in the area will support our work with nature on their own doorsteps.

“We have a wonderfully diverse range of habitats and we must do all we can to protect it today and for future generations.”
