Darwen man on arson charge

A 41-YEAR-OLD man has appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged with arson at a house in Darwen.

Sean Cooney, of Entwistle Street, is charged with damaging by fire the front door of a neighbour’s house either with intent to endanger life or being reckless if life was endangered.

He is alleged to have set fire to a bag containing a lighter fuel aerosol which was left against the door.

Cooney was sent on bail to Preston Crown Court where he will appear on December 12.
