Chance to visit Burnley's crematorium

A RARE opportunity to take a tour around Burnley’s crematorium is available next weekend as part of the nationwide Heritage Open Days.

The crematorium will be open to the public on Sunday from 11am to 2pm.

Burnley Council’s bereavement manager Cameron Collinge said: “The event is for people to come and have a look around the crematorium, ask us questions and find out for themselves what it is all about.

“They have probably only been at the front of the building and in the chapel but not at the back.

“Whether they have been bereaved or they want to find out more this is a chance for them to look around.”

The crematorium opened in 1958 and now does 1,600 cremations a year.
