Plaque stolen from bridge in Earby

AN 84-YEAR-OLD plaque has been stolen from New Road Bridge in Earby.

The plaque was erected in 1928 when the road opened as a public thoroughfare. It was taken between 7pm on Tuesday, August 22 and noon on Saturday, August 25.

Coun Vera Cocker said: “This is a piece of the heritage of Earby and it had been there for 84 years.

“The disgusting people who do this sort of thing should hang their heads.

“But they will not do that of course, because they have no morals, they just sneak around taking anything they think they can sell, not giving a moment’s thought as to how distressing it is.”
