Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner candidate discovers police issues
7:10pm Thursday 30th August 2012 in News
THE Conservative candidate for Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner recent took a tour of Pendle to discuss local issues.
Tim Ashton visited Nelson, Earby and Trawden as part of his tour. He discussed challenges facing Pendle as a whole, and the diversity of its requirements.
He said: “Lancashire has an excellent police force, and one particularly strong area is the neighbourhood policing teams.
“I heard just how strong those teams were from the local councillors and the great work they are doing in tackling crime.
“I want to be a hands-on commissioner, out there listening to the concerns of the residents. What my visits to Pendle have shown me is that you have to do that.
“Pendle is more diverse than you might at first think in terms of the challenges it faces in policing. It goes from the rural idyll to deprived areas, and each of those face very different challenges.”
