A CANNABIS factory, with an estimated street value of up to £80,000, has been discovered at a farmhouse in Oswaldtwistle.

Officers found 200 plants in the upstairs bedrooms of the four-bedroomed property in rural Pot House Lane after a warrant at the address yesterday afternoon.

The plants have been seized along with lighting and cultivation equipment. Police said no arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing to find out who was responsible for the set-up.

The raid was carried out after officers received a tip-off.

PC Kat Stokes from Oswaldtwistle neighbourhood policing team said: “This was a very sophisticated set-up which had clearly been going for some time.

“Someone has been tending to the crop on a regular basis and we are carrying out forensic inquiries to find out who was responsible.

“I would like to thank members of the public for bringing this to our attention and I hope people are reassured that the police do listen to concerns and will take action.”

As well as the sophisticated lighting and water set-up the windows had been covered with carpets.

Officers said anyone with information or concerns about cannabis in their community can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

GW pharma grow thousands of cannabis plants in Kent, the home office granted them a licence. So as our government say ' no medicinal value in cannabis ' (which is a lie) they have allowed GW pharma to grow it for medicine. Its not cannabis based medicine, its pure cannabis oils extracted from the flower buds. It gets you high, at 51% THC it would. 'Sativex' is basically liquid cannabis.

So when GW pharma grow it, its safe effective medicine with little side effects apart from the 'euphoric mood'. Weird how as soon as a civilian grows the exact same plants, they are criminals producing highly toxic evil psychosis inducing devil weeds. It doesn't make sense, the law needs to change and focus all efforts to prevention and therapy, its not just more effective and cheaper than prohibition, its more humane. Prohibition does nothing to reduce cannabis use, and in fact creates more danger than the cannabis itself.

@Ossybsting Welcome to the 21st Century, not all gay men are ultra-feminine nor are all cannabis smokers loser hippies.

The current market is predominantly made up of strains with extremely high h THC/CBD ratios because it is far more lucrative per gram. If it were properly legalised, consumers would be able to choose strains that suit their particular needs. I like a glass of wine every now and then, but I would no doubt reach for whatever filth that is offered by the black market were it made illegal.

With the advent of the public's continued support for the legalisation of cannabis, the growing number of the states in the US pushing for relaxed drug laws and the advent of the Silk road it is clear that the only way is legalisation.

Who on earth do you think you are? Dont talk to me like that because the in the comfort of your own home, behind the safety of your Pc screen! Do you dislike the fact that GW pharma grow cannabis as medicine for sick people?
Yep, they grow ALOT of SKUNK, extract the oils into tinctures and name it Sativex. If you dont like that FACT, complain to the people at GW pharma.

Do you dislike the fact cannabis is the safest recreational drug on the planet, much much safer than alcohol and tobacco. With the nonsense you just wrote, it seems you just came from a mental hospital.

GW pharma grow thousands of cannabis plants. So even though our government say 'No medicinal value in cannabis' They allow GW pharma to sell it expensively as medicine. They grow the same 'Skunk' the 'yoofs' smoke today, the only difference is they extract the oils from it and make tinctures. Yes, it does get you high, it would at 51% THC(Stronger than any 'Skunk') But they describe it as 'euphoric mood'. Weird how on the side of the Sativex tincture, it doesn't say anything about mental illness in the list of side effects...You would think such a 'dangerous' plant would have a BIG WARNING on the side.

Do some research stop being an idiot please

I'm like you Kev I like to specialise with that extra tasty variety its not all about monging on the bong. It's much better than wine tasting :) I doubt it will ever be made legal after my 30+ years of usage I'm starting to loose hope. I'm convinced the so called black market is not really so black market but just a back door way for government to launder our cash.
